Forgiveness

What Does "Do Not Grieve The Holy Spirit" Mean In Context?

"And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, with whom you were sealed for the day of redemption. Get rid of all bitterness, rage and anger, brawling and slander, along with every form of malice. Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving[Greek word for forgiving, Charis, meaning to have grace upon each other]each other, just as in Christ God forgave[Greek word for forgave, Charis, meaning God has graced us with love, compassion, forgiveness, and kindness]you."

Don't grieve the Holy Spirit.

Forgiveness Breaks The Power Of Satan

According to Jesus, the power of Satan grips the person who has not received God's forgiveness.

This person lives in the darkness, guilt, and shame of their sin.

The heart of Jesus is to see people freed from the powerful grip Satan has upon their lives and from the miserable darkness they live in daily, and start living in the light of God's love, forgiveness, and grace.

When people receive God's forgiveness, they are released from the power of Satan that grips them and the darkness that torments them.

Ten New Covenant Truths From Hebrews

10 New Covenant Truths From Hebrews

TRUTH #1: The New Covenant (Testament) does not start at Matthew chapter one, the birth of Jesus, but starts with the death of Jesus at the end of Matthew. (I know this sounds strange, but let's look at this through the lens of what is biblical, not at what is traditional).

Then he (Jesus) took the cup, gave thanks and offered it to them, saying "Drink from it, all of you. This is my blood of the covenant, which is poured out for many
for the forgiveness of sins.

Where Does Jesus Say The New Testament Starts?

Jesus Says The New Testament Begins With His Death Not His Birth

Jesus told his disciples that the new testament started with his body being given for them and his blood being poured out for them.In Luke 22:20 he said,

This cup is the new covenant (testament) in my blood, which is poured out for you.”

The new covenant, or New Testament as we commonly refer to it, does not begin with Matthew 1, as we have been taught.Actually, according to the words of Jesus, the New Testament begins in Matthew 27 with his death.

2 Corinthians 5:17: What Does It Really Mean To Be A New Creation In Christ?

Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come!
2 Corinthians 5:17

God Says You Are A New Creation

One of the most popular verses in Christianity is 2 Corinthians 5:17 which says, “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come!” In my conversations with people about this verse, whether those in Christian addiction recovery programs or those in churches, I have not found one person who understands the meaning of this verse in context.

Getting Rid Of Anger By Giving Away God's Grace

Anger is an emotion many people allow to control their lives. As a result, their anger causes many problems in their own lives and in the lives of others. Jesus told a story about king's servant who allowed anger to take charge of his life. Consequently, his anger ruined his life. Before we look deeper into the life of the angry servant, let's look at the cause and consequences of anger.

THE MAJOR CAUSE OF ANGER

Someone does something we wish he or she had not done

When someone does something we wish he had not done, we get mad.

If I Don't Forgive Others, Will God Not Forgive Me?

"For if you forgive other people when they sin against you, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. But if you do not forgive others their sins, your Father will not forgive your sins." Matthew 6:14-15

According to Jesus and the Letter to the Hebrews, the New Testament (Covenant) begins with the blood of Jesus not his birth (Matthew 26:26-29; Luke 22:19-20; Hebrews 9:16-28).

Matthew 6:14-15 are the earthly, pre-cross words of Jesus under the old covenant of law where forgiveness is conditional and requires perfection (70x7-Matthew 18:21-22).

Asking God To Forgive Us or Accepting God's Forgiveness...Which Is it?

For many Christians, they spend their days and nights asking God to forgive them for sins, fearing that somehow there are sins that God has not forgiven. Yet, is asking God to forgive us for sins something that he expects us to do? Could it possibly be that God doesn't want us to ask him for forgiveness, but rather longs for us to accept his forgiveness by faith? The answers to these questions are found in Scripture.

There are two covenants in the Bible we must familiarize ourselves with, the old covenant of law and the new covenant of grace.

There Are No Perfect Families

There are no perfect families. There are no perfect marriages. There are no perfect wives. There are no perfect husbands. There are no perfect parents. There are no perfect moms. There are no perfect dads. There are no perfect children. There are no perfect daughters. There are no perfect sons. There are no perfect siblings. There are no perfect sisters. There are no perfect brothers. For all have sinned and fall short of God's perfect love.

Yet, God demonstrated his perfect love for the imperfect, which are all of us, when in our imperfections, our sins, Jesus died for us.
