Aha Moment #8:
When I realized God only wanted a transparent, honest, love-relationship with me as my Father, where I was free to share with him my hurts, habits, hang-ups, and hopes without fear of his rejection, but guaranteed of his acceptance. This love-relationship replaced living by a list of rules such as "make sure you pray, read your Bible, have a quiet time, journal, memorize Scripture, and witness every day".
Aha Moment #7:
When I realized believers are called saints (holy, righteous, and forgiven ones), and never sinners saved by grace. |

In Galatians, we see Paul passionately standing up for the gospel of grace as he boldly confronted the false teachers who opposed the fullness of the gospel of grace and who taught obedience to the law was required for righteousness.
Concerning these false teachers, Paul emphatically states:
“If anyone is preaching to you a gospel contrary to the one you embraced, let him be under a curse!” (Galatians 1:9)
However in 2 Timothy, Paul gave Timothy the following instructions about responding to those who have a partial knowledge of the truth about Jesus but who oppose the full teaching of the gospel of grace (all that God has done for us in Christ to fully reconcile us to himself, forgive us for all our sins, and to freely provide righteousness for us as a gift, which we receive by faith in Jesus). |

If you are down on yourself because you are not "committed and devoted" to the church as your church leaders say you should be...
If you are made to feel guilty because you are not involved in your church as your church leaders say you should be...
If you are made to feel guilty by your church leaders because you do not have your priorities in order since you "put other things above the church"...
If you are made to feel like you will never grow spiritually until you prioritize your life and become more committed, devoted, and involved in the church. |

Following one of our services, when I was a pastor, a first-time visitor told me,“This church is not a Spirit-filled church.” I replied, “What do you mean by a Spirit-filled church?” She responded, “Well it is dead. No one raises their hands in worship. No one claps. People just stand there...lifeless. The Spirit is not present. It’s just a dead church.”
Many times we hear people saying their church is a “Spirit-filled church”. Churches even market themselves as a “Spirit-filled church.” By this they mean their church has an emotionally moving praise and worship service facilitated by the praise band where “the Spirit is free to move” and where people outwardly worship God in song. |

10 New Covenant Truths From Hebrews
TRUTH #1: The New Covenant (Testament) does not start at Matthew chapter one, the birth of Jesus, but starts with the death of Jesus at the end of Matthew. (I know this sounds strange, but let's look at this through the lens of what is biblical, not at what is traditional).
Then he (Jesus) took the cup, gave thanks and offered it to them, saying "Drink from it, all of you. This is my blood of the covenant, which is poured out for many
for the forgiveness of sins. |

A popular phrase around the world is “Fake News”. This is due to many people in the media who present news stories as truth, when in reality, these stories are false, or mixed with a little truth and a lot of error.
Just as there is fake news in the media, there is fake news in many churches. These churches present a message to people that is filled with incorrect teachings, yet are presented as biblical. These teachings are circulated throughout the church in a variety of ways: sermons, small groups, Sunday school classes, discipleship programs, mentoring relationships, counseling sessions, revivals, and conferences. |

I was told by those who "discipled" me to make sure I pray every day...read my Bible every day...have a quiet time every day...and confess my sins every day. I was told I needed to memorize and meditate on Bible verses. I was told to make sure I give my time...give my talents...and give my treasure to God. I was told I needed to set aside one hour a week to serve in a ministry at church...to set aside one hour a week to be involved in a small group at church...and to set aside one hour a week to attend a service at church. |
