As we grow in the knowledge of grace, it is important we do not puff up but instead build others up.
Paul, in 1 Corinthians 8:1 says, "Knowledge puffs up, but love builds up" (see also 1 Corinthians 13:2).
In Ephesians 4:15, Paul says "speak the truth [about grace] in love."
It is easy for us, as we grow in the knowledge of grace, to become graceless to those who oppose us.
We can become prideful in our knowledge of grace and treat those who oppose us with impatience and unkindness. |

Sharing the good news of God's grace, that he has freely given to us in Christ, with those in your church, SundaySchool class, small group, Bible Study Fellowship, etc... is risky.
Sharing that God is not counting our sins against us is risky.
Sharing we don't ask for forgiveness but accept God's forgiveness through faith is risky.
Sharing that all of our sins have been forgiven by God is risky.
Sharing we don't have to continually confess sins to stay forgiven and in fellowship with God (close to God) is risky. |

“The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ be with your spirit. Amen.” Philippians 4:23 Paul, The Apostle of Grace
Paul could have concluded his letter to the Philippians any way he chose...with any words he chose. Yet he chose to end his letter, as he does most of his letters, emphasizing the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ and the Philippian believers experience of grace.
Paul did not choose to close his letter this way because it was a nice way to close the letter. No, he chose to conclude his letter this way because the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ had completely changed his life (1 Corinthians 15:10; 1 Timothy 1:12-17), and his assignment in life was to communicate grace to people (Acts 20:24). |

“But I think it is necessary to send back to you Epaphroditus, my brother, co-worker and fellow soldier, who is also your messenger, whom you sent to take care of my needs. For he longs for all of you and is distressed because you heard he was ill. Indeed he was ill, and almost died. But God had mercy on him, and not on him only but also on me, to spare me sorrow upon sorrow. Therefore I am all the more eager to send him, so that when you see him again you may be glad and I may have less anxiety. |

“...in order that I may boast on the day of Christ that I did not run or labor in vain. But even if I am being poured out like a drink offering on the sacrifice and service of your faith, I am glad and rejoice with all of you. So you too should be glad and rejoice with me.” Philippians 2:16-18 Paul, The Apostle of Grace
As I have written in previous blogs on Philippians, Paul had experienced much persecution in sharing the good news of God’s grace, just as the Holy Spirit said he would (Acts 20:23-24). |

The most common attack made against teachers of the gospel of grace is that we are lawless, meaning against the Ten Commandments.
It is an attack that has been made against me since 1991 (26 years). This attack is nothing new.
It is the same attack made against Paul when he proclaimed the good news of God’s grace. Like Paul, we do teach that we are not under Law, but under grace (Romans 6:14).
But we do not teach, as we are and Paul in his time was accused, that since we are not under Law then people are free to sin as much as they want. |

"Whatever happens, conduct yourselves in a manner worthy of the gospel of Christ. Then, whether I come and see you or only hear about you in my absence, I will know that you stand firm in the one Spirit, striving together as one for the faith of the gospel without being frightened in any way by those who oppose you. This is a sign to them that they will be destroyed, but that you will be saved—and that by God. For it has been granted to you on behalf of Christ not only to believe in him, but also to suffer for him, since you are going through the same struggle you saw I had, and now hear that I still have. |

I want to encourage my fellow ambassadors of grace who are experiencing religious persecution from your very own brothers and sisters within Christianity.
I want to encourage you to keep teaching grace.
I know you are being slandered and criticized in your city, church, village, family, small group, or Bible class. I know you are being accused of watering down the gospel, giving people a license to sin, and being light on sin. I know this religious, legalistic wing of Christianity ...would love to silence you for teaching the truths of the new covenant of grace, for teaching we are not under law, but under grace. |

“For I am already being poured out like a drink offering, and the time for my departure is near. I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.” 2 Timothy 4:6-7 Paul knew the time of his death was close. For over thirty years, he had faithfully shared the good news of God’s grace with many people, just as Jesus had instructed him (Acts 20:24). He now had finished his race of telling others about the good news of grace.
Paul described his time of sharing the good news of God’s grace, which the ascended Jesus had given him to share (Acts 20:24, Ephesians 3, Galatians 1:11-12), as a fight.
