Paul and Timothy, servants of Christ Jesus…
Together, Paul and Timothy wrote a letter to the church in Philippi. The church in Philippi was started by Paul, Timothy, and their companions while on their mission to start grace-based churches all over the Roman Empire. The Lord opened the heart of Lydia, a resident of Philippi, to the good news of God’s grace. The Philippian church began to meet in her home (Acts 16).
Paul was Timothy’s mentor in the good news of grace. Jesus had given Paul the assignment of sharing the good news of grace with people all over the Roman Empire and to start grace-based churches its cities (Acts 20:23-24).
