Pray in the Spirit at all times, with every kind of prayer and
petition. To this end, stay alert with all perseverance in your prayers
for all the saints. Ephesians 6:18
What does it mean to pray in the Spirit?
Many teach that to pray in the Spirit means to pray in tongues...or a
heavenly language. There are two problems with this interpretation.
Problem #1: Tongues is not in the context of Paul's letter to the Ephesians.
Problem #2: Not everyone has the gift of tongues (1 Cor 12:30; 13:5). I do not have this gift. |

If you have never seenUndercover Boss, it is about CEO's who step out of their corporate world and, in disguise, step into the real world of their employees by working side by side with them. From this experience, they learn much about the everyday lives of their employees both on and away from their jobs. Through this experience, the CEO's develop a greater understanding of their employees, which enable them to sympathize with them in ways they never could have if they had never stepped out of their corporate world and into the real world of their employees. |

Life is filled with pain, problems, and pressures. Each of these drives us to God in prayer. Through prayer, we share our feelings with God and make requests of God. With faith, we continue to pray even though we do not see evidence that God hears our prayers at all. However, after much prayer over the course of a long period of time, we feel as if our prayers have gone unheard and unanswered. Eventually, we reach the point where we want to give up on prayer. We lose hope. We lose confidence. We lose faith. |
