Prodigal Son

The Healing Words of Grace

Words are powerful. According to Proverbs, our words bring life or death, hurt or healing. The prodigal’s father understood the power of words. When the prodigal son returned home bruised and broken by sin, his father spoke the powerful healing words of grace to him.

Quick! Bring the best robe and put it on him. Put a ring on his finger and sandals on his feet. Bring the fattened calf and kill it. Let’s have a feast and celebrate. For this son of mine was dead and is alive again; he was lost and is found

Grace Moves Quickly To Remove Our Guilt

The prodigal son left home with the inheritance his father had given him. While away from home, he wasted this money on wild living. Eventually, his money ran out, leaving him only with guilt. After being gone for long time, after his money ran out, after guilt had set in, he decided to come home. And, even though the prodigal son had been gone for such a long time, spending this time in wild living, his father moved quickly in grace to remove his guilt.“Quick! Bring the best robe and put it on him

10 Steps To Overcoming Addictions

STEP #1: Admit You Have A Problem

Many people with addictions try to hide their addictions from others. However, the longer they try to hide their addictions the longer they hurt. The first step to being set free from an addiction is to no longer keep it a secret. Part of the power of an addiction is keeping it private. By admitting to ourselves, God, and others our problem,  the power of the addiction begins to be broken.

STEP #2: Understand God's Grace

Our struggle with addictions makes us feel worthless.

EMBRACED BY GRACE

When we have sinned greatly, we feel we to have work ourselves back into a right standing with God through good works, obedient behavior, or a commitment to religious rules and standards. Our belief is through good works, obedient behavior, or faithful commitment to a religious system, we will gain God's acceptance that was lost when we sinned. However, the Bible teaches us that acceptance with God is never based upon the amount of sin in our lives or good works, obedience, or faithfulness to a religious system after we sin, but upon his abundant and amazing grace.
